Motif Sign & Display Ltd. was founded in 1982 by designers Margaret and Brian Townson, initially occupying a 1,000 sq.ft. factory unit at Sneckyeat Road, Whitehaven.
With the rapid growth fueled by increasing demand for Industrial and Safety Signage we moved to a 5,000 sq.ft. site at Solway Road, Workington, following in 2002 to expansion of our facilities with a move to a 10,000 sq.ft. manufacturing unit at Reedlands Road, Workington. This new site houses our Sales & Admin., Sign Manufacturing, Screen Printing, Engraving & Routing, and Fabrication departments.

We manufacture and install a wide range of Signs and Printed Products, all backed up with continual investment in the latest manufacturing technology. Recent purchase acquisitions have included a Pacer CNC Routing machine, an additional Screen Printing line, a computerised stock control system for safety signs, and the upgrading of our facilities to include a Gerber Edge 2 for the production of 'on demand' labels and safety signs. Our production facilities comprise of Screen Printing, Vinyl Cutting, Digital Printing, CNC Engraving & Routing, and Sign Fabrication.

An on-going commitment to quality systems led to the award of ISO 9001 in November 1999 which in May 2003 was updated to encompass the new standard ISO 9001 2000. The scope of our accreditation is for 'THE DESIGN, MANUFACTURE AND INSTALLATION OF SIGNS'. Here at Motif Sign & Display we recognise the importance of staff training and believe that our staff are our greatest asset, and accordingly we are working towards acheiving 'Investors in People' accreditation. We believe that this commitment provides long term benefits to our customers, our staff and the company.
